The moon is our reminder that everything on this earth goes through a cycle of constant growth and decline. And as the moon goes through cycles of growth and decline, so do we.

Every full moon marks the end of a lunar cycle. It’s a time for celebration and gratitude, appreciating how far you have come and what you have learned and accomplished along the way.

But the full moon is also an invitation to check in with yourself and shed light on areas of your life where you are ready to release and let go of anything that no longer serves you, anything that is holding you back from living your full potential.

Any behavior patterns that you have outgrown, any self-limiting beliefs, toxic situations/relationships, or emotions that you are ready to let go of, the full moon is the perfect time to do so.

What are full moon affirmations?

We all have this voice in our head telling us things like “I am not good enough”, “I always mess things up”, or “I am too old/inexperienced to do XYZ”, etc.

Are you familiar with this voice? I would say most of us are. This voice is our shadow voice.

But over time, these negative thoughts and beliefs that we keep telling ourselves, over and over, become like a self-fulfilling prophecy and shape our reality.

Recognizing these self-sabotaging thoughts and limiting beliefs is crucial for personal growth and personal development.

So…what are full moon affirmations? Full moon affirmations are positive statements or positive affirmations that help to reprogram our unconscious mind helping us to finally release and let go of these limiting thoughts and/or limiting belief systems that are holding us back from living the best version of ourselves.

How do full moon affirmations work?

Full moon affirmations are pretty much like brainwashing for the mind and full moon affirmations help to create a more positive mindset.

And by reprograming the unconscious mind, we start to release these limiting thoughts and belief systems that keep us small and hold us back from living the best version of ourselves.

Your beliefs become your thoughts, your thoughts become your words, your words become your actions, your actions become your habits, your habits become your values, your values become your destiny.

If you truly believe you can do something, your actions change, and they will lead you toward your goals, dreams, and desires. And you will end up living a more purposeful life, a life that you enjoy living, a life that feels more authentic to who you truly are at your core essence.

Below are a few suggestions on how you can work with your full moon affirmations.

When working with affirmations in general, it is super important that you align with the frequency of your desires, meaning you need to believe what you are affirming.

Practice gratitude

Practicing gratitude will help you to create a more abundant mindset.

And when you work with your affirmations from a more abundant mindset, it will be easier to connect with the feeling behind your affirmations.

Before you start your affirmation practice, ask yourself: what are you grateful for today/this week/this lifetime, etc?

…and allow the feeling of gratitude to settle in your heart.

Speak your full moon affirmations out loud

You can speak your full moon affirmations out loud in your bed every morning or every night before you go to bed. You can speak them out loud over your morning coffee, you can also speak them out loud in front of a mirror. Mirrorwork can be super powerful.

Set aside a specific time of the day for your affirmation practice. Stick to this time every day/every week.

Before you speak your affirmations, take a few deep grounding breaths in and out through the nose.

Focus on 2 – 3 full moon affirmations at a time.

Repeat your full moon affirmations with a confident voice and a positive outlook.

Feel the energy and connected emotions behind what you are saying. It is really important to feel what you are affirming.

Go over each of your full moon affirmations 3 – 5 times in a row.

If you are into visualization, this one might feel more in alignment with you.

Again, set aside a specific time of the day for your full moon affirmation practice and stick to this time every day/every week.

Moon rituals are self-care rituals and a wonderful opportunity for personal growth and development. The intention of a full moon ritual is to release and let go of anything that does not serve you anymore, anything that is holding you back from living your true potential and creating the life that you desire for yourself.

How does the full moon affect us?

I am a strong believer in ‘As above, so below’. Personally, I believe that we are all energy and if the planets shift this also has an effect on us in some ways.

But that being said, the full moon affects everyone in different ways, and for some people, it might not affect them at all.

For myself, I can say that my dreams around the full moon do become more vivid and I tend to dream more intense. On the days before the full moon and the day of the full moon, I tend to feel more emotional than usual.

But do I turn into a werewolf? No…well,…at least not that I know of 😉

Can I practice my full moon affirmations and new moon affirmations together?

Yes. There really is no harm in practicing your full moon affirmations together with your new moon affirmations.

Usually, I recommend working with 3 – 5 affirmations at a time. See how many affirmations you feel comfortable with and take it from there. If you for example feel comfortable with 5 affirmations, you could have two full moon affirmations and two new moon affirmations and you could even pair it with one self-love affirmation if you wanted to.

There really is no right or wrong, this is your journey, do what feels right for you. And if you feel like focusing on full moon affirmations only for some time then that is totally fine too.

You are the creator of your life and you decide what you would like to create and focus on.

As with everything that you do for yourself, consistency is key. Affirmations do work, but consistency is important.

The process of letting go is not always easy, not at all. Keep in mind that changing a belief system takes time, constant effort, and patience. Have compassion for yourself throughout the process and allow yourself the time that you need to release and let go.

What matters most is that you keep showing up for yourself.
