Welcome back, my friends!
In today’s world, the idea of a glow up or glow up tips is often reduced to starting new routines, introducing new healthy lifestyle habits, or the latest fashion and styling tips to turn you into a new person… and yes, I agree, all these things have a place, but here is the hard truth:
You can’t glow up while lying to yourself!
In my experience, true, sustainable change begins when you stop performing and start paying attention to what is actually happening inside you: your thoughts, recurring behaviour patterns, your daily choices, your boundaries, your avoidance, etc. All this is your key to lasting transformation.
In other words, you stop chasing routines to be that girl, you stop forcing habits that don’t feel aligned, and instead, you begin to decide from self-trust.
Yes, this kind of glow up is much slower and quieter, but far more powerful and lasting! Because this kind of glow up strengthens the relationship with yourself, it supports your mental and physical wellbeing and creates a foundation that you can actually build on, not just for 2026, but for every year that follows.
I have experienced it myself and seen this transition with many of my friends and clients, once you shift the internal, the external begins to follow.
Honesty is not easy, I get it, but honesty is the catalyst for change and transformation.
Consider these seven glow up tips as mirrors for your soul. Each of the glow up tips below invites you to pause, reflect and take responsibility for your inner world because that is where real confidence, clarity and change begin.

What is a mindful glow up?
A mindful glow up is a holistic approach on how to glow up mentally and physically, as it allows space for personal growth that prioritises inner awareness, emotional well-being, and intentional living.
Rather than chasing external validation or aesthetic change, mindful glow up tips help you:
- Build self-trust and make decisions from alignment, not pressure
- Strengthen emotional resilience and regulate your inner world
- Become aware of unconscious patterns that keep you stuck
- Align your daily actions with your core values
- Create confidence that isn’t dependent on external approval
- Develop sustainable habits that support both your mental and physical well-being
This is the kind of glow up that creates real, lasting change, because it is rooted in radical self-honesty, not performance.

7 Mindful glow up tips that support radical self-honesty
Below are seven powerful glow up tips, intentional tools for radical self-honesty, each designed to help you see yourself clearly, reclaim your energy, and create lasting change as you grow and develop as a person.
Honesty can be uncomfortable, I know. But if you are committed to your personal growth journey, discomfort is part of the process. Without discomfort, there is no meaningful change.
1. Journaling to tell yourself the truth
If you are a regular reader of this blog, you already know how much I love journaling, and I know many of you do too!
Throughout my own personal growth and self-discovery journey, journaling has been one of the most powerful tools to help me live an intentional life that feels more aligned and true to who I am.
I truly believe that journaling is one of the most effective mental glow up tips because it creates space for honesty. It invites you to slow down and tune in, rather than distract or bypass what is really going on beneath the surface.
At its core, journaling is about putting your genuine thoughts, emotions, fears, and desires on paper without a filter, judgment, or performance pressure.
Journaling supports radical self-honesty by helping you ask and answer difficult but necessary questions, such as:
- What am I avoiding right now?
- What am I pretending not to know?
- What do I actually want, not what I think I should want?
Consistent journaling helps you uncover limiting beliefs, understand your emotional drivers, and identify where your life feels stuck, disconnected, or out of alignment. This level of self-awareness marks the beginning of change and transformation.

2. Define your core values to stop living on autopilot
No judgment, but I think that many people follow glow up tips or start a new glow up routine without ever questioning whether those goals are truly theirs. Actually, this is often the reason why these new healthy habits or glow up tips don’t last.
Again, you have to start at the core. Your core values are like an internal compass that guides your decision-making process. When you know what truly matters to you, it is much easier to recognise where your life feels aligned and where it requires changes.
This kind of clarity allows you to make intentional choices instead of defaulting to habits, expectations, or being guided by external pressure.
Without knowing your core values, it is easy to chase goals that look good on the outside but feel empty on the inside.

3. Practising self-love by taking responsibility for your inner world
Self-love is to be on top of your glow up checklist, because your personal growth journey starts with self-love.
True self-love is rooted in taking responsibility for yourself, especially when it comes to your inner dialogue. It is about being aware of how you treat yourself behind the scenes, not just how you show up on the outside.
Radical self-honesty asks you to notice:
- How do you speak to yourself when things go wrong?
- Where do you abandon or override your own needs?
- How do you respond to stress, setbacks, or uncertainty?
A mindful glow up requires you to take responsibility for your inner world, rather than blaming external circumstances for how you feel or react.

4. Letting go of what no longer serves you
Letting go of what no longer serves you is one of the most challenging glow up tips, but also one of the most powerful.
Let’s be clear, letting go doesn’t always mean dramatic endings. Often, it looks like releasing old identities, limiting beliefs, toxic habits, or relationships that no longer align with who you are becoming.
Radical self-honesty doesn’t force release; it creates awareness. When you are honest about what is costing you peace, clarity, or self-respect, letting go happens naturally over time.
Letting go can look like:
- noticing what consistently drains your energy
- questioning beliefs that keep you stuck or playing small
- releasing habits that no longer support your personal growth and development
- learning how to set healthy boundaries where resentment or exhaustion show up
This step is essential for any glow up routine because growth requires space, and space is created when you are willing to release the old so something more aligned can enter your life.
5. Moving your body to listen, not to control
As a certified Yoga Teacher and Personal Trainer, I have experienced this shift myself, and I have witnessed it again and again with my students and clients.
For a long time, movement was about control: fixing, pushing, shaping my body in a certain way or certain pose/exercise.
Yoga introduced me to mindful movement and helped me build a relationship with my body rather than working against it.
Through my yoga practice, I deepened my understanding of the mind–body connection. I began moving with more awareness: paying attention to where I held physical tension in my body, how emotions showed up physically, what my body was actually asking for, etc.
This level of body awareness is transformative as it shifts movement from something you do to your body into something you experience with it.

6. Choosing your environment consciously
Your environment plays a powerful role in how you feel, think, and show up.
Radical self-honesty means acknowledging how certain people, spaces, and inputs affect your nervous system and emotional well-being.
This includes:
- The relationships you invest in
- The content you consume
- The spaces you spend time in
- …
Choosing your environment consciously isn’t avoidance; it’s discernment. It is about creating conditions that support growth rather than constantly pulling you out of alignment.
Honestly speaking, I think that this is one of the glow up tips that is often overlooked, but I am sure you have experienced it yourself: who you surround yourself with has a huge impact on your emotional balance.
7. Shadow work to meet the parts of yourself you avoid
Shadow work is really close to my heart, and it was the inspiration behind this blog, letyourshadowshine.com.
Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it fate. Carl Jung
Shadow work exercises help you bring unconscious patterns, fears, and limiting beliefs into awareness, not to judge or “fix” them, but to understand them.
At its core, shadow work is radical self-honesty. It invites you to explore why certain triggers affect you so deeply, where self-sabotage shows up, and which beliefs quietly shape your choices and behaviours daily.
By becoming aware of these hidden parts of yourself and meeting them with compassion and curiosity, you create space for healing and integration. This is where true personal growth happens, and your glow up becomes lasting.
My honest opinion: If you are looking for a glow up that lasts, radical self-honesty is your starting point!
When you approach your glow up with radical self-honesty, your transformation is not forced; it is inevitable. Because you are working on the root, not the surface. Over time, you build awareness, self-trust and integrity, which is the basis of a glow up that lasts.
