The other day, I was chatting with my dear friend, mentor, and accountability buddy, and she mentioned that she was planning to do a mid year check in over the weekend. I LOVED the sound of doing a mid year check in and decided to do the same.
In the end, I enjoyed my mid year check in so much that I decided to turn my experience into a blog post and share it with you guys!
Sharing is caring, and who knows, maybe after reading this, you will be inspired too!

A mid year check in is like hitting the reset button; it is an invitation to pause, reflect, and realign with what truly matters to you.
By reflecting on what has been working and what hasn’t, you create space for powerful clarity. This helps you move into the second half of the year with more focus, intention, and motivation, knowing there’s still so much possible in the months ahead.
It is never too late to change, recommit, or start fresh.
Journaling is one of the simplest, yet most powerful tools for growth and personal development. If you are a regular on my blog, you know how much I love working with journal prompts, and I know you do too!
Hence, for this mid year check in, I put together a collection of self growth journal prompts that I used for my inspiration.
All mid year journal prompts are designed to help you reflect on the past six months, reconnect with your purpose and reignite your motivation for what is yet to come.
Ready to reboot my friends? Grab your journal and a fluffy coffee, and let’s start!

FAQ: Your mid year check in questions answered
What if I did not set any goals at the start of the year? Can I still do a mid year check in?
Of course! A mid-year check-in isn’t just about tracking your goals; it is about cultivating self-awareness. Whether you are halfway through the year or nearing the end of the year, these check-ins give you a powerful chance to pause, reflect, and reconnect with yourself. It is about understanding how you feel about the life that you are creating. Are your actions aligned with your values? Do your daily routines support the bigger vision you have for your life? Even if you didn’t set goals at the start of the year, you can absolutely do a mid-year check-in. It might be exactly what you need to move forward with more clarity and intention.
How much time should I set aside for a mid year check in?
There is no right or wrong way to do this; some people take 30 minutes to write down their reflections, others take up to 1 hour to do a full check-in. If you are new to this practice, I recommend setting aside around 90 minutes. Give yourself the space to slow down, reflect meaningfully, and really tune in without the pressure to rush. Think of these check-ins as your self-care time.
How often should I check in with myself like this?
While mid-year is a powerful milestone, regular check-ins throughout the year can deepen your self-awareness and keep you aligned and on track with your overall life goals. Many people like to journal monthly or even weekly. Think of the mid-year check-in as a more expansive reset, with smaller reflections or check-ins along the way. From my experience, the more often you do these check-ins, the more natural it becomes and over time, these check-ins will feel less like a task and more like a habit that helps you to be more grounded and anchored as you go through life.
Mid year check in final thoughts & learnings
As I am writing this blog post, I am still finalising my action plan for the coming months, and I might return to this blog post and change my final thoughts and learnings at a later stage, but for the time being, below are my top three learnings moving forward into the second half of the year:
- Do less, but with more focus
- Allow yourself to adjust your goals along the way if needed
- Choose progress over perfection
Progress over perfection is a big one for me….I am a perfectionist at heart, but I have to admit, many times my perfectionism is holding me back from simply moving forward and getting things done!
It won’t be easy, but let’s see how it goes and of course, I will keep you posted on my progress, my friends!
